In case you don’t already know, WordPress Version 3.8 named “Parker” (in honor of Charlie Parker) is now available with a new magazine theme called Twenty Fourteen. The new version includes redesigned and responsive admin features that offers a better reading experience on phones and tablets, various color schemes, and refreshed theme, widget, and dashboard pages. This is the third major WordPress upgrade this year; versions 3.6, 3.7, and 3.8 were all released in 2013.

This release was led by Matt Mullenweg. It is the second release using the new plugin-first development process, with a much shorter timeframe than in the past. You can check out the features currently in production on the make/core blog.
